Dr. Ballin is a board-certified dermatologist certified by The American Board of Dermatology and is designated as a fellow by the American Academy of Dermatology.
A native of San Antonio, TX, Dr. Ballin attended medical school at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. In medical school, he was awarded the U.S. Navy Health Professions Scholarship and was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy. After graduating from the Navy, he completed his dermatology residency and an internship in pediatrics at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, CA. After graduation from residency, he and his family were stationed overseas, where he served as the head of the Dermatology Department at the Naval Hospital in Okinawa, Japan. During his time in the Navy, Dr. Ballin was fortunate to serve as a Naval Flight surgeon assigned to Training Air Wing TWO in Kingsville, TX. He also served as Assistant Professor of Dermatology for the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD. Dr. Ballin served 11 years on active duty in the US Navy, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
Dr. Ballin is married to Katie, and they have three children. He enjoys baseball, running, fishing, homebrewing and spending time with his family in northwest Michigan.
