Born and raised in Michigan, Dr. Kerwin completed his undergraduate education at the University of Michigan and medical school at Wayne State University in Detroit. Following medical school, he worked on malignant melanoma research at the Laboratory of Molecular Dermatology in the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute, and then went on to complete his internship at Ascension Providence Rochester Hospital (formerly Ascension Crittenton Hospital) in Rochester Hills, Michigan. Dr. Kerwin completed his dermatology residency at Wayne State University before completing his fellowship in procedural dermatology and Mohs Surgery in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery.
In addition to continuing to serve patients at Associated Dermatologists, Dr. Kerwin teaches at the John D. Dingell Veterans Affairs Medical Center, affiliated with the Wayne State University Department of Dermatology. He is also on staff at Corewell Health, Huron Valley Hospital, and St. John Providence. Dr. Kerwin was named by the Residents of the Department of Dermatology at Wayne State Faculty of the year in 2016. Additionally, he continues to educate and serve as a mentor for City Year Detroit. He has been voted “Top Doc” every year since he started at the practice in 2015.
