Dr. Matthew R. Talarczyk is a retired Air Force Colonel and Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Medical Specialties. He holds clinical interests in all aspects of aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery, but brings varicose & spider vein specialty care to DSWO. Dr. Talarczyk provides each patient their own unique treatment plan which may include transcutaneous laser, sclerotherapy, micro-phlebectomy or endovenous laser treatment (EVLT).
Dr. Talarczyk received a BS & MS in Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He then attended medical school at UW-Madison before completing a general surgery residency at Wright State University. Dr. Talarczyk later obtained his general surgery Board Certification while completing a plastic & reconstructive surgery fellowship at the Oregon Health Science University in Portland, Oregon. The Air Force then stationed him at San Antonio’s Wilford Hall Medical Center for three years where he was a staff plastic surgeon and Chairman of the Craniofacial Anomalies team. Dr. Talarczyk later relocated to Dayton to lead Wright-Patterson Medical Center’s (WPMC) plastic surgery program. He went on to complete additional fellowship training in reconstructive microsurgery at The Ohio State University before returning to WPMC to assume the roles of Chief of Surgery and Surgical Squadron Commander.
Dr. Talarczyk is extremely involved in the surgical & dermatologic community. He is an adjunct clinical faculty with WSU’s Department of Dermatology, Department of Surgery and the Department of Orthopedic & Plastic Surgery. Dr. Talarczyk also held a faculty appointment at the Uniformed Service University. He has published several peer reviewed papers, book chapters and has given multiple presentations around the country. In addition to his clinical and leadership roles, Dr. Talarczyk’s USAF career has included serving as a trauma surgeon in Operation Iraqi Freedom, leading several Latin American pediatric plastic surgery humanitarian missions, and performing manning assists in Europe. Lastly, he is a member of the American College of Surgeons, American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Medical Association, Ohio State Medical Society and the Society of AF Military Surgeons.
