Pooja Chitgopeker, MD, is a double board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs Surgeon and Cosmetic Dermatologist. She is a fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgeons. Growing up in Auckland, New Zealand, Dr. Chitgopeker earned her medical degree from the University of Auckland, graduating with distinction and top 5% of her class in 2010. Immediately after graduating, and moving across the Pacific Ocean in 2011, she completed her Dermatology residency and an intensive fellowship training in Mohs surgery, advanced facial reconstruction, and cosmetic and laser surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.
Having been a former Miss India and Miss Earth prior to completing medical school, Pooja was heavily involved in the fashion industry and realized the importance of healthy skin and the impact it has on one’s overall health and self-image. Today, Dr. Chitgopeker takes a special interest in assisting patients seeking all types of dermatological cosmetic care. She is well versed in using neuromodulators, soft tissue augmentation, sclerotherapy, laser surgery and performing benign excisions and earlobe repairs. Dr. Chitgopeker also has a strong interest in scar revision and management. During her residency, she received a prestigious cutting-edge research grant from the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) and conducted a clinical study to compare fractional resurfacing lasers in improving the appearance of surgical and traumatic scars.
A lifelong learner as well as educator, Dr. Chitgopeker shares her knowledge and presents at national meetings and has authored numerous publications on dermatologic surgery, cutaneous oncology, and cosmetic and laser surgery. She is passionate about providing high-quality, individualized care for her patients.
When not providing patient care at the office, Dr. Chitgopeker enjoys spending time at home in River North with her husband, their three young children and dog.
