Born and raised in Cumberland, MD, Dr. Hancox completed his undergraduate education and medical school at West Virginia University. He completed his internship at West Virginia University and then his dermatology residency at Wake Forest University Health Sciences Center in Winston-Salem, NC, where he served as Chief Resident. In addition, Dr. Hancox completed his Mohs surgery and Procedural Dermatology Fellowship at the Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, CA. He is a fellow of both the American Academy of Dermatology and the American College of Mohs Surgery and is board-certified in both dermatology and Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery.
Dr. Hancox has authored or co-authored dozens of peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on various dermatology topics, including skin cancer treatment and reconstruction. He is board chairman of Nuru International, an international organization focused on poverty alleviation.
He and his wife, Melissa, have four children, and they enjoy traveling, exercising, and studying the Bible; they are heavily involved in their church.
